When to run Diagnose

Diagnose costs a turn and freezes a reading of the current graph. Spam it and you get the same thin summary with nicer wording.

Good moments

  • You added the last open fact you were waiting on.
  • Two options finally look distinct on the map.
  • You are about to walk away for the day and want a cold return tomorrow.
  • Someone else will see a share link and you want a short orientation.

Skip it when

  • You only have a seed and two nodes.
  • You just renamed labels without changing structure.
  • You disagree with the last reading but have not changed the map.

After a reading, turn the next move into a node or a research task. Otherwise the map and the writeup drift apart.

Read the map before you decide

Diagnose is a reading of the map you already built. Thin map, thin reading. Use it as a pause, not a verdict.

From notes to a next move

A next move is calendar-sized. Put it on the graph, assign a date or owner, then stop polishing the essay.

    Leave the map open

You do not have to finish in one sitting. A cold look at yesterday's notes often shows the drift you missed while talking.
