How to build a decision map

A decision map is not a mind map of everything you know. It is a spine (the seed) plus the few forces that actually pull on the call.

The loop

  1. Write one seed sentence.
  2. Talk. Let nodes appear for facts, risks, people, and options.
  3. Link only when you can say why the edge exists.
  4. Pin or hide noise so the graph stays readable.
  5. List open questions you still need answered.
  6. Run Diagnose when the shape stabilizes.

Kinds that help

  • Strengths and openings you already have.
  • Pressures and constraints you cannot wish away.
  • Evidence: a quote, a number, a past outcome.
  • Options: mutually different moves, not synonyms.

If two options feel identical, merge them. If an edge is "because vibes", delete it or turn it into a question node.
